I'm just curious. Hello Siberian Man, I am just curious if these are new purchases of yours & I am also curious where you get your coins in Russia. Are there many coin stores & coin shows in your area? I live in the North East USA and visit about three small coin shows each month (in addition to a couple major shows each year). I buy most of my coins at these shows. I also buy coins from a couple older collectors & Internet sites. I travel a lot but I really don't find much good material in my travels. Very best regards, collect89
Hello, Sir. I got most of my coins from my local dealers and from Internet-shops. During the 2 or 3 last years opened many of big & small coin"s Internet-shops in Russia. Now I really can to buy many of rare coins and I do it But I am - rather old collector; I started my collection in 1980. Sincerely yours. Evgeney (it"s my name).
Poor Buer. The place got the city status only eight years before that piece came out, and became part of Gelsenkirchen nine years after the date of issue ... Christian
I don't know how I managed to miss this thread, but I am sure glad that I have found it now! Very cool issues! I don't have any of this type in my collection yet but I would like to. I too find it amazing that they were able to create so many interesting designs on such short notice, not just on metal but on paper as well. (I have at least one of the paper variety) I even like how the pieces are all unique but many of them have a fairly similar style, keeping the national heritage yet also being distinctive to the town! I wish we could find out which town exactly in Germany my family came from, I'd have to hunt down an example or two from there!
You have an uncanny ability!!! Some how you always manage to make a person want to scan images of their stuff and post it :thumb:
The two pieces at the top and the bottom are from German cities: The first is from Düren (today NW), the last one is from Coblenz (today Koblenz, RP). Now the one in the middle is from the French city of Besançon, in Franche-Comté. Has an interesting shape. Christian
Darmstadt. It was founded in XIth century. In XIV century Darmstad was the part of the Katzelenbohen county and later - the part of the Hessen. 10 pfennig 1918.
Hey Siberian Man, What's the rarity of this one? I have a friend that wants to sell me his with Beethoven on it. What should I offer? Thanks.
Always great pics Siberian Man and a real pleasure to look at and gain insights of history!!. Here are a couple of pics from a little bit later!! One is a medal and the other is a vintage Hitler souvenir from 1959. The medal is in the link. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sudetenland_Medal
