With pleasure! Although I put the most effort into my 1 marks collection, I really like the designs from all of the denominations. The smaller coins have such intricate detail. Here are examples from different denominations.

For that year low grade with authentic patina -German junk bullion. A great number of coins is often cleaned, perhaps even the majority today.


If there is interest for high grade low price German 1 Mark Kaiserreich coins, the years 1914 & 1915 all mint marks can be recommended.

 

I found this coin in a dealers token box at one of the last shows I attended. I would say it is from the time period we are discussing. Translates to CITY DUREN. Maybe a token and made from a steel composition. I liked the look of fortitude on the soldiers face and picked it up for 15 bucks. Thats all I know about it. Tough times during WWI and I imagine this to be a morale piece of some sort.

 

Notgeld of the city Düren Eisen/iron 1918 (Menzel 3269.9, Wert 10, 1918, Eisen, 23,8 mm.) 10 Pfennig, you paid some more than can be expected nonetheless a piece of history in a dire time.

 

It's steel, and it's a notgeld. There are many pieces like this, and many are pretty cool.
I have a picture of mine, but I'm on the work computer, so I can't post it right now.

 

Forgot about this one. Bought it when I was in the mood to pick up some bullion and this little gem was able to be bought at the time for a little over melt. (What? Maybe its common) For a coin this old end in great shape I'll do it every time. Another example of high spot price eating up premiums of collector coins I guess... Its not very big, I'd say about a 6th Oz is all but I really liked the design of the eagle and I love variety. NGC MS 65.

 

Yes, that one is relatively common in high grades. Why? See here. Weight should be 3.982 g (or 3.584 g fine).

This a nice one. The Berlin 10 - Marks of 1872 and 1873 were entirely stocked in the war treasure, along with some of the Berlin 20 - mark of 1872 ( much rarer ), and possibly the Munich 10 - mark of 1872 / 1873, but the latter aswell are difficult to obtain, in nice grades anyway.

When some years before the outbreak of WW I the hoard was doubled, most of the goldcoins minted in 1913 and 1914 were brought to Spandau aswell, as goes for the Berlin 20 - mark of 1915. Of those latecomers, the Bavarian 20 - mark of 1913 is RRR, 1914 is scarce, Würtemberg 1913 and 1914 are scarce, Berlin 1915 is not really scarce, but pricy. I am not sure if the 1913 and 1914 - 20 . marks of Baden, saxony and hamburg were a part of the citadell - hoard, those are quit commen in MS - grades anyway.

Beautiful gold coppermania. I'm not in a position to to purchase these, but it sure is much more exciting to get a gorgeous old coin like this instead of a boring old bar or modern bullion coin.

This is true and some of the more known manufacturers have a hefty premium, owning a piece of history is much more interesting.
