I hope it's OK to keep resurrecting this ROCK thread because I'm having fun @TIF . Saw some more ROCK last night. This time it was Stephen Stills & Judy Collins. Yep, we received a couple new guitar picks for the collection & a signed Vinyl master: Stephen Stills played a bunch of Buffalo Springfield & of course, their encore included the song ‘Sweet Judy Blue Eyes’. Judy’s voice is still silk & honey today. Some of the YN’s here probably don’t know Stephen Stills or Judy’s work. These two videos will let you enjoy the 1966 Judy Collins and her remarkable 2017 voice: Judy Yesteryear: Judy Today:
So fortunately there just happened to be a Gem and Mineral show today, just found of last night, and it was my say off Took my niece and had a lot of fun Unfortunately, no ancients this time. I did score a nice trilobite though.
I was in Nokomis FL a couple weeks ago but I came home with no shark teeth. How about some beach glass: This big brown one is a bottle bottom with numbers and an Asian character. Attempting to identify it is a little bit like identifying an old coin.
It's not an Asian character, it's an H superimposed on an anchor: Anchor Hocking. That maker's mark has been in use since 1937
I was looking at some trilobites on eBay and came across this one. A type for don't have and was at a decent price. After I bought it and if was shipped, I looked through the sellers stock and noticed some looked oddly similar. It was because there were similar, cast replicas. The seller had it listed as such at the end of the description. Went to read the entire description of me me and sure enough it's a cast replica. I decided to keep it instead of returning it as a study piece to help recognize fakes and as a reminder to slow down and read full descriptions. It's feels a bit light, has a funny smell (from the paint) and you can see where the paint goes off the trilobite, particularly off the tail and on the left side. You can see soft areas and what looks similar to casting bubbles on coins. Lesson learned
