It was not struck in 1513 (so it may be ineligible for this thread) but it is dated 1513.</p><p><br /></p><p>Austria Archbishopric of SALZBURG&nbsp; Wolf Dietrich von Raitenau (1587-1612) </p><p>&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; 1/4 Taler Klippe mule with Leonhard von Keutschach (1495-1519) 1513&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; obverse.&nbsp; The reverse, however, is that of a Wolf Dietrich issue almost a&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; century later.&nbsp;&nbsp; </p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p>[ATTACH=full]921803[/ATTACH] [ATTACH=full]921804[/ATTACH] </p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p>Zöttl&#039;s standard work on the Salzburg coinage lists 5 such mules struck under Wolf Dietrich, 3 with dies of Leonhard von Keutschach and 2 with dies of Matthaus Lang von Wellenburg (1519-40), so this coin is clearly not an accident nor a mint worker having some fun with an old die.&nbsp; However, no-one seems to know why or on what occasion they were struck.</p><p><br /></p><p>For comparison, here is a standard Wolf Dietrich 1/4 Taler :</p><p><br /></p><p>[ATTACH=full]921965[/ATTACH] </p><p>[ATTACH=full]921967[/ATTACH][/QUOTE]</p><p><br /></p>
