Peck listed 3 Peck 1983s in the BM, Mint Museum and Bank of England Museum, but whether they are all correctly assigned, I don't know. So to summarise, the population lists have a P1983 (which wasn't and I'm not aware of any more) and no Freeman 689s (with this the only one I am aware of but is no longer entombed).
Missed one. 1859 pattern decimal halfpenny, Freeman 689. This is a Peck miss, as the coin was illustrated in the Nobleman sale (1922). ex Nobleman, Brand and Freeman collections. This was one of only half a dozen decimal patterns not in the Norweb collection, which I suspect was due to it having been listed in the 1967 Circular as a Peck 2002 - which she already had. Freeman correctly identified it as an unrecorded type. Acquired by me in a Heritage sale in June 2006, it had by that time acquired a label as a Peck 1983, which it clearly isn't because the oak wreath on that one goes in an anti-clockwise direction, compared to this one which is clockwise. Previously slabbed as a 63. A feature of this and the Peck 1981/2 patterns is the flan lamination. The mint was clearly having an issue with sheet/flan preparation, or striking force required for the thinner flans at this time. Others may also have been affected.
