This gets tougher as the coins get older. Not a lot to choose from.

    Not my usual:

After 20+ years of marriage it suddenly occurred to my husband that I MIGHT find this interesting :wideyed::rolleyes:. It was his Grandfather's coin and has been in my husband's SDB for 10 years or so. I mean really. Yes, AU, yes, cleaned, and yes, some people might not like the 'tarnish'. But, COME ON!

I had it sent into PCGS for him to keep it identified and protected. Goober. I can only hope he has it back in the SDB, a true family treasure and keepsake. I have coins worth more, but this one is family.

I sure wouldn't kick that coin out of my collection! 1880 is a proof-only year for the trade dollar.

I must admit I did not understand what seemed to be a mild rebuke. I thought I was joining in the game according to the rules. Perhaps I was hurrying it along by going 1 year earlier?

I'm also unclear when it's time to move on to the next (previous) year.
