I just discovered a trove of pictures in an old PCGS Registry set I had more than a decade ago, and forgotten all about.

Hopefully someone will also post a non-US coin from 1996, but at least I can contribute something.

I gotcha covered. I'll repost similar countries but I'll use a different KM each time I post a coin. Here's Netherlands KM203 1996 10 Cents

This contest is now forcing me to image coins I wasn't aware I even had. Which is a good thing of course. :)

The Cape Verde reminds me of this from Portugal. henry.jpg

Isn't Cape Verde a prior Portuguese place (will have to check google-fu...)

1993 and Russia, the theme is somehow interesting :D

Nice one, related to the Templar Knights? The cross on the sail is reminiscent of theirs, though I'm not well versed in that point in history so I may be mistaken.
I have two ziplocs full of random world coins found in the wild over the past decade or so, one for Canadian coins and the other covers the rest of the globe.
Its funny, when that bag was a lot smaller about 4 years ago I decided to go through it to separate the Canadian coins from the rest of the world. Why? I don't know, must have been a rainy day. Anyway, I came across a coin that I figured was either Canadian or British, so I took a closer look at it and lo and behold.... it was a 1911 V nickel! Must've mistaken it for a foreign coin and tossed it in there. That was what initially got me interested in numismatics, and here I am typing away like a maniac four years later. Before I bore everyone to death... let's get back to the game.....

1991 Lincoln cent with large cud on reverse:
    1991 Monster Cud Cent 2.jpg

A cud error occurs when one of the dies fatigues at an edge & continues to strike coins. In this case, the reverse die broke (big-time) and it continued to strike coins.

The real hope behind these kinds of games and contests is to get to know everyone better and get more folks posting regularly so we can have a great world collector community and enjoy each other's collections and interests. So to that end commentary is much encouraged.

This is a neat coin. I like it when modern coinage references historical themes and items/buildings/ships etc. Adds a level of interest (for me at least :))

Mexico 1990 Brockage by capped die 1.jpg Mexico 1990 Brockage by capped die 3.jpg
Mexico 1990 Brockage by capped die 6.jpg

This kind of error occurs when a coin is struck & it adheres to one of the dies. That first coin (capped die) then becomes the die that strikes this error coin. The resulting inverse image is at first strong (like this example). As the capped die continues to strike coins, the resulting inverse image becomes more & more spread-out.

This error type occurs when a planchet has missing areas due to a problem in the blanking process. The incomplete planchet is then struck into a coin. The coin depicted has a few curved clips. Other types of clips include straight clips, ragged clips, etc.
