Crappy by your standards but for 1435/6 looks pretty good to me !

@Seattlite86 I am disappointed that you have stopped participating
on this thread. For the most part, recent participants have waited at
least 24+ hours to post the next year. When this thread reached 1500AD
the number of participants dropped dramatically. In fact in post #3628
I made mention that I might have "hijacked" the thread. My posts for
the most part were spaced 24+ hours apart. Right now we are at 1435/36
and I'm pretty sure @Curtismo would be OK with someone posting a
coin from 1440 or 1445 or any close by date. I hope that participants
going forward will honor, lets say, a 5 day wait before posting the next year. Hopefully you'll come back, if not to post a coin, then to enjoy
what others are posting and sharing.

Thankfully, I can now check Indian Sultanates/ Mamluk coinage since they dated in AH their coins. Christian dated coins are extremely rare before 1450AD. Without Tibor's fantastic early dated European coinage, we would have never gotten this far. I think I have Hungarian Goldgulden, though not dated, are known from certain dates when struck. Same for some French medieval Gold coinage.

It really ended up moving too fast for me to feel part of it. I would love to participate, but I don't believe I own a single coin minted in the 1400s...

My oldest dated coin was 1484 so I am also out of it unless I discover an old Islamic coin online. However, I am enjoying being educated about 15th century coins, about which I know very little.

Its been a week since @panzerman shared his Al-Qahira mint
Mamluk coin. A very nice piece for 1435/36 AD. Does anyone have
a coin that can be attributed to 1434 AD? My next one has 1429
    for a date.

I managed to upgrade my type to a EF
    AV Ashrafi AH838=1434/35
    Mamluk/ Burji Dynasty
    Al-Nasir Bursbay
These are common but hard to get in decent shape:(:(:( so 1433 is next up. I will check my Indian Sultanates b-islamic-coins-burji-mamluk-1890471-XL.jpg

I will go thru my Indian Sultanates to check for more dates. I think I have a Hungary AV Goldgulden that has ND/ but was struck in 1433 Nagybanya Mint (Sigismund I)

In three days, Jan. 25th, it will be one month since our last
coin posted, an Islamic gold coin posted by @panzerman.
Maybe we should close this thread and start another since
we are into a New Year.

I think there was to be a prize to whomever posted the oldest dated coin. Could refer to the original posting.

@panzerman posted the last two coins. I think without a
doubt that the prize should go to him. He has posted several
truly beautiful pieces. Hopefully @Curtisimo will help us
    launch a new thread.

I am researching my coin to make sure it was struck in 1433. Please give me a day or so.

IMG_0440.JPG IMG_0442.JPG According to Lengyel Book, this coin was struck at the Buda Mint from 1429-37. There is a one in eight chance that this was struck in 1433. Sorry, guys that is best I can do. Or...we wait, I think until one comes up for auction, and I will try to secure it to keep thread going.

If you guys reach out to the boys and girls of the Ancients Forum, I'm sure this thread will live again. I have many medieval dated coins, but I'm afraid the newest is from 1339. Naturally, others might help here. Maybe pay a visit to the Ancients and state the rules again?

Apologies for the long delay in response. I’ve been away from the forum for a while.

Congratulations to Pman for being the oldest coin post! There will actually be multiple prizes for all the fantastic participation.

I’m currently away from my collection and will need some time to go through and pick the prize recipients but stay tuned because I intend to give this thread a worthy send off.

    Thanks for playing everyone!
