But again, the superior grades i can find only on ebay or locally at high prices. Meanwhile, i buy from local trader circulated items lower grade but well meets my needs and my pocket . Design is my obssession not mint state. As long as the theme is intact is a go for me.

1940 is a big year for me too--can anyone tell I collect Japan? We are creeping into my other modern favorite, Albania finally too.

    Japan--Showa 15
There were two types of 5 sen coins produced--first in aluminum-bronze, then transitioned to aluminum.

    aluminum-bronze:

and aluminum (I posted one earlier but this one is much nicer):

Collect what you like and can afford. A lot of people on here are focused on only the highest grades, but if you don't need that then go after what you like. I have thousands of circulated coins that meet my needs perfectly.

2 Francs 1940 from the 3rd French Republic. I mostly collect French coins, if you couldn't tell from my other posts :yack:.

Same here. Uncirculated coins make up maybe 5% of my collection. I think I only have about 10 slabbed coins total, which would be only about 0.1%.

I wonder if anyone has the 1935 version though, only 298,000 were minted.
