    Another 1506 from HUNGARY

Wladislaw (Ulaszlo) II Jagiello 1 or 2 Guldiner 1506

The denomination of this coin is not clear. The weight is 25.17 g and the diameter 42 mm. The auction house said that the coin most commonly comes in a weight of 14.5 g, so they considered this one a Double Guldiner. However, 25.17 g seems to me too light for a double guldiner. @tibor - what do you think ?

Incidentally, the name of your grandmother's namesake, Hans Thurso, appears on the obverse.

And again to be balanced, a German 1506 for @panzerman, although lower grade

    LUBECK 1/4 Taler 1506

The Hanseatic League cities of Lübeck, Hamburg, Lüneburg & Wismar created the Wendish Monetary Union (Wendische Munzverein) in 1379. The obverse has the arms of Hamburg(city walls and nettle leaf), Lüneburg (city wall and lion) and Wismar (half bull's head and horizontal bars, divided), with a hardly visible small shield with the Lübeck arms in the centre.

@talerman Huszar lists several Guldiner's but no half-Guldiner's.
    For H-794 they list weight range 11.5g thru 58.5g ! H-796 weight
    range 22.8g thru 43.5g ! H-798 10.10 thru 42.9 ! Huszar does not
list half-Guldiners or double Guldiners. Dates listed are 1500,1501,
1504,1505 and 1506. Dates 1502 and 1503 are not listed. The past
30+ years I've only seen 1506 and no other date, yet Huszar rarity
numbers are either R3 or R4. The two I've bid on over the past few
years were around 26g each. Even though there is no family connection
to these Thurzo's I would like to eventually add one to my collection.

I think my coin is Hus. 799, where he does not give weights. 58.5 g for me is certainly at least 2 Guldiner but I am not sure about 25.17.

I realise that I posted two obverses and no reverse by mistake. Here is the coin again.

1502 Germany NORDLINGEN Philipp II von Weinsberg, mint right holder (1448-1503) 1/2 Schilling

Emperor Friedrich II acquired Nördlingen in 1215 from the Bishop of Regensburg and an imperial mint operated in the city in the 13th & early 14th century. In 1431 King Sigismund pawned the imperial mint right to his Chancellor, Konrad XIII von Weinsberg. When his son Philipp II died without a male heir in 1503, the mint right was inherited by Eberhard IV von Eppstein- Konigstein and on his death in 1535 by the Counts of Stolberg. However, Emperor Charles V abolished the mint right in 1536.

Wow! We're still going, here, after almost two years!

Alas, I am now out of the game, as the oldest AD-dated coin I've ever owned was a 1505 Hungarian denar.

Thank you, @panzerman, for getting us going again.

1500 Is this coin allowed ? No date but documented as having been struck in 1500 and often described as Germany's oldest Taler.

SAXONY Friedrich III the Wise, Albrecht the Courageous & Johann the Steadfast (1496-1500) Klappmützentaler n.d. (1500)

Klappmütze is the name of the type of hat they are wearing. It is also the name of a species of hooded seal. Perhaps one of our hat experts or native German speakers can explain the connection.

Very beautifull coin Talerman. Klappmutze where the rage in late Renaissance, just like with "ballcaps" today.
