Sorry if I did it the wrong way, but from the OP I had got the impression that one has to post same year or one year below the peceeding post

Hey Q nice to see some of your world coins as well as your great ancients :).

You did it right. Post either the same year or the previous year counting backward in time.

Also a side note feel free to post more than one at a time if you want to (as opposed to my OP guidelines). That way we don't miss out on anyone's cool coins from that year. The only guideline at this point is we are consciously trying to slow down on flipping the year till most of the players get a chance to post thier examples from that year if they want.

Glad you decided to play my friend.

Let me contribute an unusual error coin to this thread. This is a 1948 Brazil 20 Centavos with Rui Barbosa on the obverse. The obverse has an unusual cud error. The obverse die was at one time mis-aligned to the collar die during striking. This sheared-off a crescent from the edge of the obverse die. Subsequent strikes by the obverse die resulted in coins with the crescent shaped cud.

I'll also post this pretty 1948-B Switzerland 5 Franc coin. This puppy is silver & about the size of a US half dollar.

Cool! I'll follow with an error from 1947 Japan (Showa 22).

The eBay seller had shown it with a slip of paper...arrived from Japan with the little paper still in place. I got one shot of it before accidentally knocking it out:

It got a little chewy from the pea gravel driveway it had been buried in, but so what. It added to my running silver count, and that always makes me a happy man.

(Note: the "DD" numbers stand for "Digger's Diary". These are the "keeper" finds from my metal detecting "dug coins" album.)
