Here is my 1664 entry: a Guastalla Scudo of Ferrante III Gonzaga with on the reverse a statue of Ferrante I holding a spear, standing on a fallen satyr

And this is my 1663 entry, although I may be cheating. It is an undated 1/2 cruzado of Joao IV of Portugal(1640-56). In 1663 Afonso VI countermarked the coins to increase their value from 200 reis (as seen on the obverse at right of the arms, although the 2 has been almost obliterated) to 250 reis (as seen in the upside down countermark on the reverse).

    I guess we're at 1663 now, so:

I am NOT trying to jump ahead to 1661 but this miserable coin is a postscript to Kimotej's Karl XI Riga solidus. It is a forgery of his coin, struck in copper with a layer of tin to look (at least initially) like silver, dated 1661. As you may know, Eustratie Dabija, prince (or voivod) of Moldavia (1661-65), struck vast numbers of forged shillings, especially of Riga and Livonia under Sweden but also of Poland and Brandenburg, in his mint in Suceava. His forgeries completely undermined the value of the long respected Riga shillings or solidi. I have missed out a little, so I am quickly sneaking in two schillings from 1663. Sorry about that!

Poor examples of both, I´m afraid!

I know you do! I was referring more to the Lithuanian bit - they are the oldest I have with Western style dates on, and you said before you have none? :)
