I wrote an educational web page on the quinarius denomination http://augustuscoins.com/ed/quinarius/ and announced it on CoinTalk in March: https://www.cointalk.com/threads/the-quinarius-denomination.293276/ Today I added to it a quinarius of Galba: This is the seller's photo, darkened to make it look more like the coin itself which is very toned (and less porous than this image shows). It is small and cute at 14 mm and 1.50 grams. SER GALBA IMP CAESAR AVG PM TP counterclockwise from 5:00 laureate head of Galba right VICTORIA GALBAE AVG Victory on globe left, holding wreath and palm RIC I Galba 131 (corrected to read Victory left) King "Roman Quinarii" Galba 2. Do you think coin prices always go up? This coin was in the magnificent TradArt "Monnaies Antique" 12 Dec. 1991 sale in Geneva. The catalog is hardcover and the sale had many coins that went above 10,000 Swiss Francs. This coin was lot 267 and sold for 1,610 Swiss Francs including the fees (but not shipping). The Swiss Franc was about 62 US cents at the time, making it about $998. That was 26 years ago. The US Consumer Price index has gone up 81% since then and the Swiss France has gone up to $1.01. So, what should the coin cost now? I don't know about what it "should" cost, but it did cost $310 including shipping. Coin prices don't always go up.
