We shall see. Another thing that turns me off about these coins are the household "limits"... 100 units! That's not a limit and it's probably larger than most Scouting packs... That's more of a dealer sized ordering limit and the Mint doesn't even offer bulk discounts. IF I was going to drop $3,400 ($33.95 x 100 for uncs.) on Mint issued coins it certainly wouldn't be on these, but rather the FS gold with significantly lower mintages. I am curious why the Mint isn't co-marketing these within the Scouts, selling them through channels that supply badges, gear, and uniforms to the Scouts in the way that the Parks are supposedly going to be selling America the Beautiful issues at those park locations in gift shops.
The Boy Scouts commems WILL be a sell out, over 200k of the 350k minted already sold. And I doubt there will be any left before the price increase on April 21st. Except for the dregs that get returned per usual. They will sell well, I just don't see a future in them once tucked into a few past and present generations of Scouts keepsakes. The lack of them on the market after that occurs still won't be much of a hoo-hah to the coin collectors either, methinks.
Well, I must admit, they might do better if the final mintage was closer to (Oh, I don't know...) 3,537!!! :hail: Anna Harrison reference..."You GO girl!"
Well, there's about an hour and forty minutes let to go and the current TeleTrade lot: Modern Complete $1 Silver Commem Set 1983P PCGS 69 Date Run (123 Items) is once again back up to a bid point of $6,200. Again, if readers of this thread have been following this, this is the third time in about a month that TeleTrade has been trying to sell this lot, so far unsuccessfully.
these were the modern commemorative that sold out: 1992 white house 1993 thomas jefferson 2005 marine corp 2006 benjamin franklin 2009 abraham lincoln did i miss some?. 2001 buffalo?.
I don't recall if it sold out but I'm pretty sure because it shot up in price fast for unc and proof...
Duke, that mayo jar in the Avatar is makin' me hungry. I think I need to go and make a sandwich......
The final price has not been posted yet but it hasn't sold the last two time either when the price ended at the $6200 bid point. Even though the site currently shows, "Realized price pending" if it didn't meet the reserve, the next screen will show 'lot not sold' or something to that effect... it should post tonight or by the morning.
I guess I could change it again There are alot of picts to get to I think I'll start looking as I"m not really hungry.
The 2001 silver Buffalo Unc/Proof set is one of my favorites! Those coins look really nice next to the gold ones. Although quite a few of the sets were sold, I think they will continue to appreciate over time. :thumb:
