[QUOTE="Vess1, post: 1369233, member: 13650"]Great advice. I was just going to say about the same thing. The 2011 ASE 25th set was like the perfect storm. The stars aligned and all indications pointed to it being wildly popular. The relatively low mintage made it in even higher demand where people who might not have even bought a set if they produced 500k of them, all of a sudden had to have multiples. On top of the people who wanted them no matter what.

The things it had going for it was the reverse proof, the first "S" mm ASE, low mintage, above average interest, large number of collectors for various reasons, widely known series, history of the 20th anniv. set... and on and on. This situation doesn't happen every year. Or every 5 years. And, it's still playing out. But so far, those of us who got them are very pleased right now.

The Olympic coins are at the bottom of the heap IMO. I personally don't have any interest in them. I don't think there's the demand or the collector base for them to ever be a big hit, value wise. But if you like them, buy them. Why would you want to pay more for something you like? I don't want to. If I could buy AGEs for $200, that'd be great.

The forum here has helped alert me to stuff that you might want to jump on from the mint (if you want it). There could be some smaller hits that come out, like the Lincoln chronicles set was in 09 or like the 2001 buffalo commem. But that's not the norm. I'd just stick around here, keep up on the forums and see what catches your eye.

The big one I missed out on was the '09 UHR. Loved the coin but it was pretty pricey.
