    Very interesting find! Someone engraved it on the front. I've seen nickels like that quite often, but never a quarter.[​IMG]

    Reverse seems normal to me. Square dark spot in center is reflection of my camera. I need some advice on taking pictures of coins. 001.JPG

    I found this coin in circulation. Damaged but very well done. Who would take the time to do this to a coin. I can't imagine taking the time to do this and not keeping the coin.

    It would be best if you removed the coin from the 2x2 because the reflection of the camera is caused by the mylar window. Also, be sure to flatten the points of the staple because they can accidentally scratch another coin. Personally, I recommend buying a "flat cinch" stapler. They don't cost that much and are available at stores like Office Depot and Office Max.
