I was wondering when I'd see one as an avatar :)

Maybe not my favorite woody, but the one that shows up best as an avatar.

Can you post both sides of that coin. Or a link if you have posted it somewhere? Id love to see it all.

My township in PA is often cited as having the highest density of white-tail deer anywhere.

A few years ago I was taking my dawn walk and took the camera along. About a mile down the road from my house there is a field that had been mowed but had grown back.

This guy, my neighbor, noticed me as I noticed him. I was lucky to have the sun coming up behind him and turning the dew into little diamonds.

I took the photo as he was deciding whether I was a pest or not.

I chose it not merely because it is a special shot, but also says something about who I am, where I am, and how I connect to the world I share with all around me.

That is why it is not y favorite. The back is rather plane.

Take a guess what ANACS graded it as.

Anyone else probably 64. ANACS probably went 66 maybe? Color would most likely be BN

I have posted it before, but it is a joke. I used ANACS just to get a slab. PCGS and NGC don't like woodies either. FWIW, I would go with a 64ish.

Yeah what's up with anacs. They have become very conservative on a lot of series. Makes for great pickings now and in the future though. My 81s VAM 54b is at PCGS right now. Was in an anacs 64 and I'm pretty confident it'll get into a PCGS 65

One of the criteria for their (all TPG's) is consistent color. This one fails miserably. I doubt it would get a 60, but one PCGS and NGC love to do on woodies is questionable color.

Huh. I've never submitted woodies or done anything with them other than casually get them at the right price if they cross my path and throw them in my misc box. Good to know

Amusing how their opinion changes when it's silver and not copper, isn't it? :)

Well, my avatar is a silver astronaut pin. My lifelong dream has been to be a NASA astronaut...and I actually have applied for the upcoming class (along with 18,300 others...3x more than any other class). You receive a silver lapel pin upon being selected and completing the 2 year basic astronaut training. Obviously getting one would achieve my lifelong goal.

The pin is replaced by a gold astronaut pin once you actually fly a mission.
