I picked this Trajan Alexandrian Tetradrachm up at the FUN show today but I can't seem to find a reference for it. It's not in Emmett or any of the typical online reference sites. Any ideas? Here it is: Appears to be a pair of oxen pulling a cart with vase; head of Serapis above oxen; LIB (year 12) in upper field. The coin is 34mm and 22.1 gms and the tag with it I believe says Seaby 1950, although it's not very clear.
It's an exceptionally rare type, and in great condition. I believe it is this one, RPC 4306. Not sure which of the variants it is, there aren't photos for all of them. I have a similar one, in far worse condition and without the Serapis head. There certainly aren't many of these types in private collections. Congratulations on this fantastic find, I'm jealous!
Is the one on VCoins not the same coin that is in Emmett? See the corrosion defect to the right of the neck.
Several tables told me today, I was a few hours too late and they had already sold what I was looking for. It does not matter when you get there , you will always hear that I picked up a few nice coins , its a good show you will enjoy.
Are all three examples complete die matches? Looks like the OP and the Emmett example are. It was an absolute pleasure to meet you @Brian Bucklan at the show today! I hope I wasn't too frustrating to work with.
