Good on you, @Deacon Ray - you know I'm tickled with the digital artistry you've helped with on my Eclectic Box stuff. @NLL is my favorite YN on the boards, so I'm happy to hear he's getting some more loot. I know he will appreciate it. And steering him into ancients might fire a new passion in him. I know there were people who did things like that for me when I was younger or less experienced - shoot, I'm still the recipient of much kindness now. What comes around goes around, and makes the world a better place. And most of the time, I'd prefer the company of a reformed sinner over that of a lifelong saint (if such a creature exists). Saints can be kind of intimidating to be around, though that's not really their fault.
Thanks, Lord Marc! I know that benevolent actions are common among our forum members and you are a stellar example. Many, I'm sure, perform acts of generosity and kindness when no human beings are watching. I've seen firsthand the kind acts that people are capable of. Being the Senior Deacon of the church and a Salvation Army Volunteer (No, I'm not a bell ringer—I'm a substance abuse counselor) I see the offerings that people put in the plate and in the kettle when they think nobody is watching. Hundred dollar bills rolled up to look like one dollar bills. Every year in the Salvation Army kettles I hear about hundred dollar bills and envelopes full of money, gold coins, gold/diamond rings and other types of valuable jewelry are not uncommon. I am convinced that human beings are inherently good. Some of the best are here on the ancients forum!
What a nice gesture! A beautiful gift, I am sure he will appreciate the coins, and fall in love with ancients
That is an unbelievable gift from my perspective. You don't usually find people like you these days. I have recently become very interested in ancients and am currently learning much about them. Your coins are extraordinary and passing them on to a young person makes me feel good too! He may covet those coins for a lifetime and appreciate them every day. You just gave him a huge boost in his collection. I too always thought the bad outweighs the good from the job I was in, however you are right, there are so many great people in the world willing to help.
