Just arrived 5 minutes ago so more investigation needed... but looking like.. Augustus (poor shape), Agrippa, Claudius, Gallienus (w/doe), Severus Alexander (3 standards rev), Marcus Aurelius (X4), Hadrian, Antonius Pius, maybe another Severus Alexander (nice Nike reverse.. )? Phillip II and 5 other small Greek bronzes... Some are pretty dirty.. dropping them in some distilled water. Will give them a light cleaning with a soft rag and get some better photos. Anyway - was a super cheap lot (well under $100)- wasn't exactly sure what I was getting..look better than expected and will be fun and educational to attribute. Please post any lower end coins that you enjoy!
I love those. Granted, I'm new to ancients so most of my stuff looks like those haha. But I like the thought of the hands they have passed through before being lost, rediscovered, and finally making their way to me(you).
Some great stuff there! Nice ones of Marcus Aurelius, a couple nice Severus Alexander provincials, a Gallienus zoo antoninianus, a MB of Hadrian, an as of Agrippa issued under Caligula, a Phillip II/Alexander bronze from Macedonia ... What fun that will be to clean and attribute these!
My whole collection is at around this level .. with maybe 5 or 6 nicer coins. I love them and have no issue collecting at this quality. I feel lucky to have them.
Nice variety of sizes! As far as posting any of my lower end coins that I enjoy—that would be my entire collection —Just kidding! All of my coins are high end when it comes to their history and importance to me.
Great group, they're going to be a blast! Looks like the top 3 in there would be worth about 100 bucks! NICE!
What a great lot, especially for that price. I particularly like the small Greek coin from Gryneion, Aeolis (facing head of Apollo/mussel shell) on the top right. If I see it correctly, there are only three known types of coins from Gryneion, and this is the larger denomination (BMC 1) which is the least common of them. (This is my first post on Cointalk – I've been silently reading for about a year, but when I recognized the 'bargain mussel shell,' I had to congratulate on this nice addition to your collection!)
I see you have a Marcus Agrippa,More than one Marcus Aurelius, and a couple Commodus. Cool beans! They are favs of mine
That was the one coin that stood out to me too! Is that a worn Claudius at the top there? The dark one?
