So perhaps I CAN offer a portrait of the usurper and his son...</p><p><br /></p><p>Leo III (or Artavasdus?) Follis 2.61 gr. 21 mm. hr. 6. Sear 1515; DO 36. Ex Protonotarios collection. The reattribution was put forth by H. Pottier, "Restitution d’un follis à Artavasde, l’usurpateur usurpé (Constantinople 742/3), in Cercles d’Etudes Numismatiques, volume 26, 1989, no. 1.
