Birthyear sets for family members, kind of a family time capsule I suppose. I like to pick through the dealers' boxes and assemble sets of circulated, but nice, coins. So far I've gone as far back as Joe's great great grandparents. As I complete each set I include an explanation of who they are, intersting stories, etc. For example, his great great grandparents came over from Poland and landed in Ellis island. I'm also including pertinent dates such as the year I met his father and the year we were married. Some day it will be a great big story book of his family and hopefully, something he will treasure not only for the history that it represents, but for the thought and care that went into assembling this for him.

3. Coins from your ancestors birthplaces. Joe & I are particularly fond of coins from Poland and Ireland. How about a type set? Pick up a nice album and begin a US Type set. When your daughter is old enough, she will enjoy looking at the different coins we've had throughout history and will eventually be drawn to a particular series or 2.
