If a person were to send a coin to a TPG and you believe it has a full steps, do you have to list that as like a variety or is that part of the grading process or what?

Full steps is a result of the quality of strike and die state and not a variety. I believe that it is part of the standard grading process

You send them in under the base number for the date and mint. As part of the grading it is determined if the designation is deserved.

I read here on CT awhile ago here on CT that a Jefferson nickle that did NOT have "Full Steps" would not suffer a very much in it's grading. In other words it is not mandatory to have full steps in order to submit a Jeff. nickle. But one that did have full steps would/should obtain higher grades. Common sense in IMHO!
