Just seemed like an odd first comment.

Usually people introduce themselves in that sub-forum, or post about a certain coin they're curious about.
    That's all.

You're kidding, right? You mean to say all those coins I've bought over the years from Alibaba.com are fake? Dang it... I thought I was getting bargains, and all the time I've been taken for a ride. Double dang it...

I just ran across this thread. As one who was stung by a 1795 bust dollar that turned out to be a very deceptive Chinese counterfeit (originally to the tune of $3,000), I would advise anybody interested in Bust coins (dollars or any other denomination) that they either buy slabbed coins or have an expert evaluate the coin before shelling out any $$.

In my case, I did send the coin into PCGS only to get it back (unslabbed) with a "Questionable Authenticity" sticker. Luckily, the dealer I bought it from took it back (and paid my PCGS submission costs to boot).

If the price asked for the coin is equivalent to the Red Book price for two grades lower, you can pretty much bet it's fake. There may be bargains out there, but, as the old saying goes: "if it sounds too good to be true, ...."
