Ethical? No. Legal? Yes. One thing those reports fail to investigate and to tell you is that, by the federal rules of eligibility for food stamps, those people remain eligible to participate in the program. I have 28 years of experience in the administration of welfare, medicaid and food stamp programs.
"WE"......."all of us"........have not been government for a very long time. "WE" can take it back though, but only through knowledge and common sense. Unfortunately the average voter has neither. No. They should be prosecuted. That doesn't mean they SHOULD be and are taking advantage of the system. Once again, the lack of common sense in government.
...for refund? Btw, how do you know that was the "free" set? Maybe you were supposed to get the Beat-up Eagle.
Sad conclusion to the Lottery Winner story...explains that folks can be prosecuted for welfare fraud.
She failed to report the change within the allotted ten days. She may have still remained eligible had she reported properly. One more thing: IMO, some of the rules and regulations of those programs are absolutely stupid.
Only if you were honest...........surely the mint did not mean to send you a MS70 coin. The prosecuted part was in response to Blauparts comment of fraudulent activity (sorry, I thought that was clear because of the multi-quote). I'm assuming fraud is still against the law.?!?
Based on what I know of the facts in her case and my knowledge of the food stamp laws, she only violated the 10 day reporting requirement. Violating the 10 day reporting requirement is a crime. She still may be eligible for food stamps, since no other facts are known. (except that one of the requirements is to actually be alive)
They won't knock. Just place the extra silver proof set over your face as you sleep and pray for mercy. TC
