IF anything is left, and there is German or Belgian or English stuff, I would love it (where my father served in WW II). Steve
I’ll be on my boat all afternoon but I have some bills that came to me with free coins. I’ll see if any are in your field of interest and PM some of you.
these are going out today. In the mailbox. EVERYONE ELSE: LOOK AND SEE IF THE ITEM YOU WANT HAS ALREADY BEEN DIBBED. IF SO, IT'S NOT AVAILABLE. IF IT IS, YOU HAVE TO PM ME AN ADDRESS. I DON'T KNOW WHERE YOU LIVE.
Mine came today as well! Thanks @riff. These are my first ever MPCs and will go well with my AAFES Pog collection.
@SteveInTampa I did a quick google search on the top name and came up with an old case from the 40's involving a traffic accident that Thomas Maticka was in. https://casetext.com/case/smith-v-maticka A little history blurb about the town and the businesses that "Old Tom" ran: https://www.ourmidland.com/lifestyl...rs-More-tales-from-Sanford-s-past-6898576.php Also found the obituary for his son and daughter. https://www.wilson-miller.com/obituaries/print?o_id=481797 https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/33780085/anna-gay Pretty interesting that you can put your note in the hands of someone. Going to search for Eddie Dowling next.
Being an Irish mutt myself, good luck with that name. It's my mom's maiden(shortened from O'Dowling at Ellis), and very common. Although the town and time-frame may help a lot.
I think it's awesome that a beat up old note could have random people on the internet trying to find information about some random people that decided to write their names on a $1 bill 70-80 years ago.
One of the reasons I prefer circulated coins and notes. I like thinking about the history of the people who used it. What their lives were like. Doing this all the way back to ancient Roman and Greek times with their coins is fun. This note, along with these two mens’ past, just happened to make it easier.
