Absolutely, I am very fond of ALL Internet-book/Vegas-book/street-book (west-coast) operations, more so than anyone on this forum cares to hear about (no offense, but this is a Coin forum). Still, books just don't allow high limits for entertainment props/futures, unless the client is well established (which is hard to factor in on an online account). I know a couple Canadian Whales that still can't expand their online limits on future bets, even outside of the entertainment genre. I have noticed that in fact there is an aspect of coin collecting that shares a room with sports gambling (OCD connectors maybe???)... I will choose to stay in coin collecting mode and leave what was in the street... In the street. Hope everyone who signs up gets their FREE coin, and thanks to everyone who contributes on this forum to further educating me on the aspect of numismatics, Erik
The problem with the latter (indian head cent, v-nickel, etc) is that the supply is much more limited and the variation between pieces is much higher. PCGS probably wanted something that they can acquire easily in large quantities and that will be of similar quality (i.e. grade and tone) across the board. Otherwise, whiners would probably complain about not getting as good of a piece as someone else.
I already have a few PCGS Registry Sets so no free quarter for me... oh well!!! Just wanted to add that joining the PCGS Set Registry is a good idea for collectors in any event. Even if you're not planning to build a set that will compete with those at the top, by starting a Registry Set in a category you can gain access to the full PCGS Price Guide and Population Reports for free... but a little bit of work is involved. You just need to start a set in the category you want to look up, even if you don't own any coins in the set so far, then go to the "What If" feature under the editing menu. Then just add the coin in the grade you want to look up and you'll see the Price Guide value and the Population Report information. When you're done looking up the coins, simply delete that set from the Registry. You can then repeat the process as often as you like by starting sets in various categories, looking up the information, then removing the sets. Or you can just leave the empty sets listed in the Registry if you know you'll be back to look up more. Of course, if you actually are going to build a Registry Set, then all the better Have fun!
lol... I think in a situation like this a ms61 or ms60 would be cooler to get than any thing under ms66. It's a bad economy, heck, one could even get the best of both worlds and crack out the coin for an album and then recycle the plastic for a sip or two of beer  Erik
HEHE thanks to a lucky pickup today (grab bag of 4 pcgs slabs for $25) I've got the 24th highest rated 62 mint set and it's only 40% complete. I think it's (the free slab) just a bribe to get us into their systems for increased slabbed coin sales. (guess it works as I'm probably gonna buy the other 5 slabs i need to finish the set (they say 6 more but i count my 62-p pr67 10c but they don't since it's actualy a proof)
lol...lol again... This sort of gorilla marketing is used from suburban coffee shops to inner-city crack houses as far as retail is concerned; give a taste away to sell a meal... Good for them, either way, I'll take my free coin, oh and I almost forgot... My wife became a coin collector tonight as well... Well at least I plan on telling her that tomorrow when she wakes up!!! Erik
Thanks Erik! I just signed up, got the e-mail right away, and same thing, will expect to see it within 10 days. I was going to join up soon anyways as I just bought a bunch of PCGS slabs, so why not get the "free" quarter (nothing's ever free, there's always a catch, but this was a gonna happen regardless).
Thank you for the information.:thumb: I got the confirmation email, now let's see if they ship to Germany.
Thanks for the link. After I signed up, my email stated a graded STATE quarter. I would rather have an ATB quarter. But free is free.
Got my name down in the book for one too....thanks to the OP for the link.......like another poster said earlier FREE is FREE baby!
I signed up but never got any email maybe it was because I unchecked the box letting PCGS send newsletters or something.
