I think you hit it on the head, as well as the figures in the Red Book are over a year old. It will give you a general value, but nothing specific.
Are you sure you understand what you are saying ? Do you realize that the criteria for a coin to be assigned the FBL designation by PCGS is a lot different than it is for NGC to do the same ? Do you also realize that if the bell lines are broken by a bag mark or ding - they do not qualify as FBL with either of the two grading companies ? This has been said here many times already - but PCGS will assign the FBL designation as long as the bottom row of bell lines are full and unbroken. NGC will only assign the FBL desigantion if both the upper and lower bell lines are full and unbroken. So I wouldn't say to be leary of NGC - but it is certainly much easier to have a Frankie graded as FBL by PCGS than it is by NGC.
zaneman Thanks for posting that...you hit the die on the planchet.... I was off the computer for a few days as I'm 7+ hours away from home.... The best book....is the book in your head....read all and I mean ALL of the books you can on coins and read articles online and in Mag's.....ask dealers questions about coin----no book can EVER get all of that info....so as GDJMSP says....."knowledge ..... share it"....knowledge is the KEY---and you don't want to ever lose it. Speedy
yes, i do understand what i'm saying. it is alot harder to get a coin graded by NGC as FBL than pcgs. so, if you're going to send a coin to NGC be sure its perfect, or else be a little leery of sending it. you might have taken it the wrong way.
