Thank you. It is a nice coin. I have others from FSR that are just as nice.

Sometimes I feel like we are caught in this Beavis and Butthead episode:

I've bought quite a few nice coins from Frank over the last year and a half, and expect to continue to do so in the future. I've usually enjoyed his humor in the past, and won't hold a grudge against him for this one exercise in extreme poor taste. Unless it becomes a habit.

Anyway, these two are probably my favorites of the coins I've bought from him. They're also both among the ones I've gotten around to re-photographing myself. Not that I'm any kind of great photographer, but they're still an improvement, I think, given that we all know that coin photography is not Frank's strong point:

Yes, they did. And not just one, several complained.

I would also like to make the members aware that pretty much every day there are numerous, and I do mean numerous, threads and posts reported for breaking the rules, where the Report is rejected by the moderators. I would go so far as to say that there as many Reports rejected as there are Reports that are acted upon by the moderators !

My point here is that not everybody, (meaning the members), sees things the same way, interprets things the same way, thinks the same way. What one sees as being political or breaking the forum rules, others see as it not being political at all and or nothing wrong with it at all.

Of course nobody ever hears about any of that. Nobody, except the mods and possibly the person who made the report, is ever aware that it even happened.

All of that said, we as the staff depend on ALL of to help out, to report what you think needs to be reported. All of you guys are the neighborhood watch, and you are needed. And I personally urge you to make reports when you think they need to be made. But at the same time I will remind you that it is the mods, and only the mods, who will make the decision as to whether or not action is warranted. And they will do so in a fair and completely unbiased manner.

And yeah, we realize that not everybody will see it that way. But that's because not everybody thinks the same way, interprets things the same way. Nonetheless that is exactly how things always have been, are, and will be done.

Personally, I won't be bidding at Frank's auction, but not due to his poor sense of humor.

In full truth, the main reason is he's not offering any coins on my priority list.

A secondary reason, though, is based on the following facts.
    • He has a number of listings marked as copies, including a few he remarks are deceptive.
    • A member here recently purchased a coin from him later identified as fake, though he took it back without problems.
    • Another coin in this auction was die matched with a coin withdrawn from a CNG auction.
    • He doesn't list the weight and size, which are the first methods for detecting fakes.
Given the number of fakes, I wonder from where he's receiving his supply. The above facts make me very nervous bidding at future auctions.

I think in the vast majority of cases, his coins are authentic. Selling coins marked as "copies" often for a nominal sum is his prerogative I guess, though if I were a dealer I probably would not do this. I've bought a number of coins from him over the past two years and have been very happy.
