    We need to talk about nudity. ;) Since you provided, along with your info in English (thanks!), the French descriptions for each coin (merci!), I wonder what "tête nue" actually means. OK, literally it's "nude head", but judging from the coin that shows Napoleon as First Consul, it does not refer to a bald head. A head without a crown maybe?

    Yes, I would guess that a naked head would be one without a crown or hat.

    Yes. In ancients we use the term "bare head," meaning no crown, wreath, diadem, or any other sort of headgear.

    XX sols 1708, weight - 7,27 g., size - 30 mm. This coin was released in Lille during the siege of this town (War for the Spanish Inheritance). Rare coin - even in such grade.

    10 francs 1949, copper-nickel, weight - 7 g., size - 26 mm, thickness - 1,74 mm, mintage - 111972500 pcs. Engraver: Pierre Turin. Paris Mint. A coins of this type were released at 1947-49. Demonetized at January 8 1953.

    Great thread Siberian Man! I read the whole thing. Very well done and informative. I love the French coins. I have a lot of those posted. As I have been collecting a lot of them for my Marrianne/Liberty collection.
