Hi everyone,I thought I would start a Ceres Head collection. My goal is a collection of these XF or better. I have to upgrade a few. Here is the collection so far, i have yet to delve into the Gold. Sellers pics. Anyone else into the Ceres coins?
Great idea for a mini-collection. Thanks for the pics. I only have one, a twenty centimes with great toning. No pic of it, in deposit box.
Its a small series, pretty pricey in the upper grades. looks like not too many putting this type together though. hi
I have a lot of French coins but never focused particularly on coins with Ceres on them. I like the old 10 centimes from the late 1800s/early 1900s but they don't really have a lot of collector interest it seems.
Nice idea for a set Here are the two I currently have in my trays 3° republique - 10 centimes 1872 A Atelier de Paris (A) * REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE * 1872, tête de Cérès a gauche * LIBERTE * EGALITE * FRATERNITE, couronne de lauriers et d'olivier avec au centre 10 CENTIMES en deux lignes, A dessous Tranche lisse 9.90 gr Ref : Le Franc VIII # 135/8 3° republique - 1 franc 1888 A Atelier de Paris (A) . Nice, thanks for sharing. It's interesting how they positioned the portrait in the opposite direction and changes to the hairstyle.
Pretty consistently all the French gold denominations of all types are facing the opposite way from the silver ones. I'd be curious as to if there's some interesting reason for it.
