My daughter-in-law, when speaking of having to get up early, says “the butt-crack of dawn” instead of “ crack of dawn.” Pretty hilarious. I don’t correct her because she is a gift to our family and it’s one of those things that endears her to my wife and me.

Wikie is end loaded by users.
I was there when the transformation happened.
It's not even worth it any more.

What "transformation" was this, and who "end loaded" it before that?

When someone disagrees with a statement on Wikipedia, they can edit it, and people can discuss it. That can be more productive than just making an off-the-wall claim, and then erasing it when someone calls you on it.

CoinCorgi Tell your dog I said hi!

Now us hikers in SoCal have a cruder version..."the crap of dawn". Often necessary before a long day in the mountains.

Except for oh, I don't know... maybe when correcting political or even select historical inaccuracies, especially when counter to a certain narrative.

Not so much, I think, but keep tossing that hook and I'm sure you'll get bites. ;)

Objectivity is a terrible thing to waste, Jeff. Just try it and find out. It doesn't have to be something you personally believe...

I grew up calling it a penny, and I still do. There are a few on here that are always trying to correct me. Ain't going to happen. :)

Just a curiosity....Is your conclusion based on stats/analytics collected for these kind of "typos" on cointalk.com, or is it a personal observation over the many posts you've seen?

I've been working ever so slowly at filling a 50 State Quarter book with proofs found in circulation by me.

So far I have Maryland and Florida. I can't recall where the Maryland proof came from but I found the Florida proof on the ground at the storage facility I manage. Both are clad.
