Cent sized. Neato. The 2222 serial number is fun, too. I would imagine that even the great-great-great-great-grandpuppies of 1931 Fido are themselves long in Doggie Heaven by now. (How many canine generations in 94 years? I’m not up to the math.)
I have something similar from one of my dogs. I need to start wearing it, it's hard to tell these days.
Daughter makes jewelry with “found” items like broken watches. Off it goes to her. She liked the 2222 serial number, too.
LOL. Maybe that app will appraise it for eleventy bazillion dollars and identify it as a rare extraterrestrial 25-povlar piece from the Znutarian Federation.
Well, it's not like the Znutarians are making any more of them, after they developed AI and it told them all to eat rocks.
I did dig several during my detecting days. One cute one (from the 1950s, I think) was shaped like a doghouse and had a picture of a little dog inside it. I do not recall digging any quite as early as the piece in the OP. The oldest I remember finding was 1946 or ‘48. My old metal detecting mentor was likely the first person to search in our city’s parks, starting in the late 1970s or at least by 1981 at the latest. He dug coins going as far back as the 1600s, which included some truly amazing stuff (yes, two gold pieces as well). He told me there was one part of King’s Square where he found a Nova Constellatio copper (that area was later a hotspot for me as well). Anyway, back to the topic of dog rabies tags: One signal Steve dug in that area turned out to be an old dog tag. It was still attached to a collar. The collar was still attached to Fido himself- or rather what was left of him.
Yea, I have gotten a few over the years. Kept one that was just an old Dog Tag from 1911 in Eastford, CT. I'll see if I can dig it up. Now where did I do with that thing?
5 or 6 generations perhaps, depending on the type of breed. Seems to me, the lifespan of the Great Dane is fairly short, 6 - 7 years on average.
I must be slipping a decimal place somewhere. I figure dogs generally get bred at age 2 to 4, and some can be bred before they're even a year old. That would mean tens of generations over 94 years.
I did a poor job with a shadow box with a lot of my dog licenses and rabies tags. It was my first attempt and I’ve been meaning to try again. Sorry for the crappy pics
