Nice! Always fun to find weird things when hunting. It's worth more then the half they didn't put in there, too!

Cool coin VM! I'm guessing it has the same diameter as the half?

Wikipedia has the Kennedy half at 30.6 mm and the UK penny at 31mm (although 30.8 mm may be more accurate for the UK penny?)

    Cool find :D

It never ceases to amaze me at the lengths that some people will use to try to cheat their bank.

it didn't have the v.d.b. so they tossed it in penny jar.

Interesting coin, but worth far less than 50 cents, so you will have to decide if it was worth finding in a half dollar roll.

Which one of these statements is fake news?

    I
estimate its whole sale value at 10 cents, maybe 20.

That IS a great find. I also found one of those (mine was 1920) in a roll of half dollars.

Many of those old English 1 penny coins are worth $1. In a little better condition.
I think for 50 cents you broke even.

I used NGC world coin values, and ebay sold listings to arrive at a value of greater than 50¢.

If you have some Edward the 7th pennies for 10 cents apiece... I'll take 10! lmao

Maybe it is just the coin dealers I did business with. Some of those guys will not even buy coins like that, others will buy them for 5-10 cents then put them in a bucket of cheap foreign coins for 50 cents apiece.

Actually guys... the roll had 20 Halves plus this coin. Whatever it's worth it's a bonus!

Condition is VG at best and $1 is retail. That's why I said 50 cents.
As an extra coin in the roll, it's a nice find. I have a couple of these (1917,1919)
    and they are nice coins.
