It's not spam. I have been to tons of estate auctions here in NC and bought some really nice coins that I have had graded and/or just sold on Ebay or added to my collection. You just have to pick and choose what you go to. Often times some guys think oh, it's a SILVER COIN and they bid like it's solid gold. Many times I have seen worn Morgans or Peace dollars bid up to $45-50 each just cause it's silver...and only 90%. Some people just think it's the bomb to buy them. I try to get the list if there is one, look at the pics as best I can and do some research on what certain coins might be worth. Then try to get to the auction early enough to actually check the stuff in person to see what the condition really is. One auction I attended earlier this year had a pic of a couple of 1892-O Morgans that looked UNC to me. I checked what they were worth, went early to inspect the stuff before the auction and scored 10 UNC 1892-O Morgans that went to NGC for grading...all coming back MS64+, 64, 63 and one 62. Yeah, I was a happy camper with that one...may never get one like that again. But if you take your time to check these auctions sometimes you can come out real nice.
