I was digging a hole for a tree and found a 1944 dime. Does anyone know what it's worth?

First, welcome to the neighborhood, Joe!

What is it worth? How much did it cost you in the time it took to dig the hole?

In terms of silver content, it is worth about $1.67.

Very cool! She appears to be in good shape having been in the ground 75 years. Usually dimes from that time period are very worn..... That is a common year and having been in the ground and subsequently cleaned up, the old dime will be rendered as damaged and not worth a lot. It will be worth a lot more to you as a cool story/conversation piece.

edit.... If you have any buddies that have a metal detector, you may have a prime property for doing some more treasure hunting.

A couple of dollars. I personally wouldn’t sell it.
Keep it, you have a nice story about how you got it :)

It's only worth about $1.50 or slightly higher due to the silver content. You should keep it. Welcome to CT.
