59B757F5-0B9C-4CF5-9366-A9560996F0A4.jpeg so I was searching through 2 old rolls of buffalo And v nickels I bought, when I found this . It doesn’t feel like a nickel and weights 4.47 grams when even my most worn buffalo comes in at 4.82. It’s non magnetic also . And appears a little thinner then a buffalo but need a micrometer to check . Any ideas . Is it just a nickel heavily damaged?

Probably been underground with environmental damage.

Probably yes.. Circulation wear and environmental damage as stated before.

Yep, corroded. Some of the metal has been dissolved away. The nickel goes faster, so what's left has more copper, and is darker.
