@Kevin Farley this ddo is not about the die deterioration you see in liberty of your coin. It is about the extra thickness to the drvjces that are not seen in the date or IGWT. Don't over think the coin. I you are having trouble you can se d it to Wexler for about 5 10 bucks. The top three TPG's probably wont even give a second look. Good luck the bickering isn't worth the time.
...it appears the OP does not require any further advice. @furryfrog02 @Robert Ransom ...and many others...we tried, but his resistance became an exercise in futility...time to turn the page...Spark
That "open question" was the question I asked at the beginning of the thread hot shot. I can always tell when a persons arrogance outshines their intelligence, it's pretty obvious because they always act as if it's the other way around. You like going on people's threads and acting like you know best when you really don't. I may be wrong about it being a double die, but you saying "no it's not" isn't an acceptable answer, obviously (no that I asked your opinion about that in the first place). Thank you
I think I will check out your next thread to determine whether you have learned anything from this debacle. Opinions are a personal thought about something and do not require facts for support. I can accept it. Listen and learn when we respond to your questions because we want to help you or we wouldn't click on.
This thread became way too escalated on both sides. There's no need to take it to that point. My opinion: The image you sent of "TRUST" was very helpful. I believe I can see where you believe you see the doubling. That appears to be die deterioration doubling. For this variety, I always find the tops of the U in TRUST to be a very helpful pickup-point. They will look split. On your coin, however, the tops of both Us appear to move towards the rim. That is very indicative of a die that is becoming deteriorated. Die characteristics are not a good way to base a variety off of. There are many combinations of die pairings and in modern coinage it is very hard to know everything about the dies. Die characteristics should only be used as an affirmation once you see the variety. They should not be used to find the variety. Also, look at the right "arm" of the T in TRUST. That does not show the same doubling as is on the PCGS coin. If you are convinced, then keep it. That's fine. We are just giving you our opinion. Likewise, if you want to keep it, it is not up to other CT members to tell you what you can and can not keep. I would not save it, but you can do whatever you want!
@SorenCoins ...he was told worn dies in post #3 @furryfrog02 Then he refused to accept the info and not only showed his ignorance but also his hind end. I agree it should not have escalated but the OP was driving the train...Spark
Most folks who question authority among the members. Are gonna have to produce some better photos. Honestly, what most of us are wondering is if you have an late die state to this rare DDO. But you are going to have to give us better Photos. If you are planning on confirmation from tge CT family. Strp up your game. Practice and shoot sone better photos of what has been asked.
I know that. I was just trying to provide some sort of explanation clearly and explicitly. It doesn't matter who is driving the train. We're all in the same train here on CT. Both sides got frustrated and led to the escalation, but that's behind us now. The train has left that tunnel. I completely agree with this.
NOT a ddo/ddr sorry you need to read Wex's web site to show you what doubling looks like. https://doubleddie.com/144801.html
I responded early to this thread and have been following it loosely. Just my observation, but with this pandemic and the stress that many, if not all, of us are experiencing, I'm finding that I've been in a negative mood and see lots of things negatively. I hope that new members can learn from the advice many experienced members here can give, but if not, they will disappear, as so many already have, and not be worth the time to get worked up about. My new standard for posts like this, or any that don't warrant my comments is
Kevin in the first coin photo, I saw die deterioration damage ( letter near or touching the rim) and a little mechanical doubling damage , no true effects. I hope the encapsulated graded one wasn't yours as I see nothing to convince me there either. IMO, as we just see photos and can't move it around like the owner can. so IMO, Jim
Sorry but you are wrong . Just a few weeks back someone put a doubled die quarter on here asking about it. Some folks said just a normal quarter and the OP sent it to a error expert and got it attributed as a real doubled die .Then the OP sent the coin to ANACS and had it slabbed as the discovery piece. They then showed us the coin in it's new slab. I also still have two coins I put on here and a lot of members said no way they can be real mint errors and they were all wrong. Judging coins just from photos it is easy to be wrong.
Your statement about the post on the DDO quarter is not incorrect, but is misleading. There were members that gave differing opinions. Some also changed their opinions during the thread. Pictures sometimes can be hard to confirm anything. Please read it again. https://www.cointalk.com/threads/salt-river-quarter-fat-distorted-lettering.362316/
So a supposed ddo that had no referencing. OK still mkre to look at that the two you brought here after three years? Anyways. You can either play with those that 99.9 get it right or you can be a Rascal.
