Found a FS in the wild...

Discussion in 'US Coins Forum' started by rhendricks2020, Sep 8, 2024.

  1. Found this one while counting register trays yesterday before opening! 24 years old, and full steps! Woot! Gave the coin a short bath in distilled water to remove what looked to be stuck on fibers from the coin wrapper it was in. Coin soaked nicely, and the fibers removed! Will scan later with the after photos.

That looks like it has a tiny bit of wear, no?

  4. The splotches you see are the wrapper spots I was talking about that soaked off in the distilled water. Yes it's got a tiny bit of wear for being in the wild for 24 years, but look at those steps!

You would expect full steps as in 1987, I think, the details of Jefferson´s hair were sharpened and Monticello had clearer outlines and 6 full steps in clearer, better relief.

I mentioned it because FS is only designated on MS60 or above coins.
