Found a 2001 dime with center copper

    i recently found a mint 2001 dime that had no center copper layer visable. The dime appears thicker than other dimes and has an intense shine. Is this a rarity or just an extra layer of copper-zinc with no additional value.

    Images are cool. Can you weigh the coin. Silver proofs were made that year.

    If he/she doesn't find the humor in that, their skin wasn't thick enough to handle any negeative response they might have gotten on the coin.

    Is the WVU for West Virginia University? The people on this board like to jive people, but can give out REALLY good advice and information...sometimes. I assume you mean you can't see copper on the edge of the coin. Sometimes the Cu-Ni cladding "smears" and makes it look like there is no copper core. If you weigh the coin this will determine what it is. Pictures are great, no matter how crummy (within reason).
