Not that it matters, but if you look closely it is indeed a P, and I can only assume (hope!) was Leeroy's point. Still, everything else you said is most certainly true, but due to the newness and novelty factor of a Philly mintmark, premiums are presently being paid, at least for bulk, and the attention given the coins is understandable. Think of the 09 cents and how they were garnering rather substantial premiums at one point (and some still are), but generally speaking, once the "fad" passed, they became nearly as average as any other date, even with the insane number of accepted varieties known. History shall repeat.
