Back up some on the magnification there, Jerry. If that's a 5 on the letter E , it will still be there without being so close.

Maybe there's some secret organization, or someone, who's going around putting tiny letters and numbers on coins. - Edit -
No one would suspect a pocket full of Lincolns would be hiding a secret message.
    - Edit -

BTW, I do see what you're talking about on the coin, but I'm 99.99% sure it's nothing more than Post Mint Damage, just like all of the other circles, and letters, and dots, etc., that you can see on this coin when you apply so much magnification to it

Jerry, try searching undamaged coins with just a plain magnifying glass.

Most numismatically important finds can be seen with the naked eye, or with very little magnification.

Hi there. Please take a regular photo that isn’t zoomed in. This photo is pixelated, making it hard to see what you have.

The E is damaged. Worth one cent.

I agree with @frankjg The E suffered a hit or other damage that occurred after it left the mint. It is not a mint error

I’m afraid the E just took a hit after the mint. It’s post mint damage and not a special error. Keep searching though.

Your pictures are way too blurry to see anything and there is only damage in that first cent. The second set of pictures you posted are of a different coin.

Physical damage. possibly from a coin counter finger. Copper is malleable enough to be moved around by force whether from an accident ( such as here as there is a brighter smear line) to deliberate such as altering the date or mintmark.

there's a lot of stains / discoloration on your cent. Easy to make one think they see something that isn't there. Try to look at stuff as what it is *first* rather than you wanting to correlate it to something that would matter.

The 5 is pretty visible so the stains don't have much to do with the visibility of the 5

Just wanted to show you what we see, which is just a regular E. Sorry, no 5 there. It’s not possible for there to be a 5 there.
