I think this penny was printed at the Denver mint. Maybe the wrong die was shipped to them?

There's a new post.....about a 2001 quarter that has a funny color. The op sez she's no pro

 

They have the "Weak D" and the "No D" varieties on this. It's a genuine Denver Mint coin. There are die markers on both the varieties, that's how the experts can tell. You can tell this one is the "No D" variety because the 0s in 2000 are all inverted (...in the "Weak D" variety, which is naturally worth much less, only the middle 0 is inverted).
