You guys have to realize just how small of a town MaComb Il is. I'd bet the McDonalds is one of those just off of the interstate and the biggest thing in the town is Western Il University and that is one tiny school. The town couldn't be more one-horse if only Mr. Ed lived there. Give this small town the benefit of the doubt. Winter IS coming after all and most of them will freeze to death in the next couple of monthes anyway.

With over 18,000 residents, it's quite a metropolis compared to anywhere in NW Wyoming!

We have under 6,000 in our town, and half of that are actually county residents in any 20 mile radius. Even in a town 1/3 their size, people know what "real money" is. And even if there was question regarding authenticity as money, our one and only investigator would have at least contacted the district's FBI liason, if not the Secret Service, who would have been the appropriate liason with regards to counterfeiting.

Yes, the secret service has a few unqualified individuals, but the Macomb police department would be better off in the long run getting their verification on the matter as opposed to opening themselves up to possible legal liability for a lack of due diligence in the matter.

O.K. I didn't want to say this but MaComb is where we in Illinois keep all of the stupid people...:D

Besides 13, 600 people of those 18,000 residents are students. So your town is actuall bigger.

and those 13,600 don't count, since they are actually transients!
    The others?
Well someone has to clean up the campus.
That is what the police do on the side.

Just a thought---but I would suggest writing the FOP in IL. The FOP is pretty big, at least around here, and I would say that they could and would do something about this.

:D Sounds like the 9'ers here!

We here in Powell can play that game too ;)

We have Northwest College (the "big" learning institute of these parts), so our actual "population" gets cut down quite a bit as well.

Yet, regardless how big or small the town may be, this is going to hang over the investigator's heads for quite some years. The youth has the ability to file a complaint against the officers, if for nothing more than to simply bring up the past and embarrass them. Imagine if one of the investigators gains aspiration to attain the county seat of Sheriff anytime soon. One kid, and one stupid mistake of not following proper channels, and has aspirations could be set back more years.

Kind of like all these corporations relying on Chinese goods. Save a little bit of time and money now could very well mean much more time and money correcting resultant problems later.
