Now THAT type I'm familiar with, and have always liked.

This French Essai from my Eclectic Box collection has a prominent designer's name below the bust.

Note also that this particular pattern coin has Marianne wearing a necklace of little hearts, which I always thought was a fun detail.

So let's make that the new theme: hearts.

Next, more coins with the designer's name on it. (Ah, too late, next up...hearts)

BTW, yes, those are French privy marks flanking the date on your Greek coin. A huge quantity of European and world coins were struck in Paris under contracts with the French mint in this era. The British and Americans also did a lot of coining for hire in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Of course this is still done today, though with private firms as well as government mints taking the contracts to strike coins for other governments.

That prominent signature with the name spelled out and not just in tiny, discreet initials? That's a very French sort of thing.

OK - I can do hearts (just): 1787 Shilling with hearts 1.jpg 1787 Shilling with hearts 2.jpg
1787 Shilling with semee of hearts. (They are around the lion in the shield at 9 o'clock on the reverse. There is another version without these.)

Hearts seem to be fairly rare on coins. There is a Heart to the left of the date. I'm waiting on this one to arrive. Is this Heart an engravers insignia I presume? denmark 1903 2 kroner obv.jpg denmark1903 2 kroner obv.jpg Continue same Theme or start another...

I don't know what the heart represents, but it seems to be on a lot of Denmark coinage.

Let's change the theme to a coin/medal with 2 or more Dates
