    I could probably go on with the series of French colonial and later independent states for quite a while. Unfortunately I didn't make image files for most of what I have. Sad to admit that I only recently realized that the obverse of this coin is actually a fish and not a stylized mask of a gazelle that I thought it was for many years.

    I read somewhere about that sawfish having some cultural significance in that part of the world. The French do make some very artistic coins. Here is a similar coin, 1957 Togo 10 francs. 1957 FR-TG 10 f.jpg
