Portugal 1910 It's kind of weakly struck but that's a sun in the background.

That is amazing that they put farang words on there, 1/2 F., must mean 1/8 fuang.

Had to do some research to understand farang. So that is the "1/8 F" that is not in Thai format? I did check the Standard Catalog and it is 1/8 fuang. I had the image labeled "1 Att".

As you probably know, I live here in Thailand for a long time. I only meant I was surprised to see any lingo other than Thai on such an old coin. The current day coins only condescend to put the number 10 or 5, etc. in a way that foreigners can read. The rest of it is in Thai language.

I take it we are still doing sun-related motifs?

Apparently theme is still "sun, moon, skies and clouds". Uruguay, 2012, 1 peso.

Since nobody has posted anything new since Wednesday night, I suggest that the next theme be reptiles and amphibians.

Reptiles or amphibians, eh? Good theme. Hmm...

I just sold an old purse which contained a handful of old coins; most were predecimal Jamaican pennies.

You can see the Jamaican coat of arms on them. I wasn't sure if that was an alligator or crocodile or caiman on top, so I looked it up. Turns out it's a crocodile.
