In 1974 a deal was reached by the WWF to have 24 Countries paricipate in a joint venture to each strike 1 gold/ 2 silver coins/ over period 1974-79. Coins could be ordered in proof/ MS versions. This was called the "Conservation Coin Series" Gold coins where 34mm./ 33g.
Silver 45mm/ 50g. 37mm./42mm.

 

Here is "gift coin" from an ebay seller. Unknown identity and low grade but still pretty neat.

@Muzyck, your Ebay gift is Roman, a billon antoninian (= double denarius) from the middle of the third century AD. Like the one down here. If you want to know more about it, post it in the Ancients forum, I'm sure your coin will be identified.

The emperor Gallienus (253-268) minted an extensive series of antoninians with animals on it, there are dozens known. This is one of many threads about these enjoyable series.

Apart from my centaur, that I don't really would expect in any zoo, I have only one of this Gallienus series, a nice and cheap antoninian.
