A tough coin to photograph. Looks much better in hand.

    Indeed it is.

I love that type. A one-year type, too, if I remember correctly? That's a nice example. I've found them in bulk lots, and nice ones, too, though not quite that nice.

My pride and joy and important because of the smallish fasces. Of the 6000 1926 Prince Skanderbeg 20 FrA there were 100 made with a fasces mark. The coins were designed and minted in Italy, and the fasces was typical of the era. Of the 100, 90 were melted. I suspect the prominent fasces mark was unacceptable to the Albanians as 'too Italian'. In the same time frame on of the banknotes was withdrawn prior to release due to the eagle being 'too Italian'. It would not surprise me if the first 100 were reviewed, and rejected, with the dies re-worked. A source form the Bank of Albania refers to the 10 as 'trials' (distinct from the provas though), which would lend some credence to the fact the first 100 were minted for review.

In any case, an original run of 100, with 90 widely reported as melted. A population of 10 then. Of course the annoying/pesky NGC prong is right where the fasces is placed! A coin I never thought to own but due to selling some bullion, luck, and a person who happened to be traveling to Switzerland, this became mine.

D'oh! Stupid, intrusive NGC prongs! It's a pet peeve of mine.

Lovely coin, though, and it's good to see you back.

A hole both intended and not quite as intended. The super off center ones are quite pricey, but this one was of low enough grade and not so off center enough as to be affordable. Keep going with holed coins :)

    Hello,

I guess I can propose a new theme...
Let's say coins with swords on them! Held by someone, on a coat of arms, as privy mark... I'm sure there are plenty of them.
Here's one I got from the Austrian Netherlands.
