I presume this is a space vehicle of some sort? Never followed the program:

Actually probably not Space being a glider, but interesting anyway. I have a Star Trek token with a Klingon starship on it somewhere - can't lay my hand on it yet.

This is a uniface medal. I don't usually go for colorized material but this one is nice, IMO. I don't have the details with me but it is around 70mm.

What an incredible thread. Some of the world coins make our U.S. coinage look a bit unimaginative. I never realized that Queen Victoria was not unattractive; always believed her to be a grim stovepipe of a person (i.e. “uptight Victorian”) I like her braids, a little saucy.

I still have about 155 pages to view in this coins of the world exhibit. Thanks to all who posted here. If I were a tour guide to this board, this would be the first thread to which I’d drive the bus.

And since the earth is visible in the background on the Ike and Susie dollars, I'll use that as a segue to our next theme: globes.

1990 Portugal 100 escudos. I am reminded of the beautiful 500 reis (was it?), a 1753, had that big globe on it, I picked it up cheaply in Brazil some years ago, then later sold it quite cheaply... 1990 PT 100 e obv.JPG 1990 PT 100 e rev.JPG

Oh, I like that design! Hadn't seen it before.

    Globes, continued ...

    Brazil: silver 960 reis, 1814

Overstruck on a Spanish milled dollar, as most if not all of these were.

(Not as nice as @Chris B's example, but it was on my Holey Coin Vest.)

PS- Jose Candido must have been the designer/engraver. That's one of the more prominent signatures I've seen on a coin. No tiny "JC" initials for that guy! Pow! Full name! Usually the only time I've seen that is on French coins.

Good for him, I guess. You know he had a habit of pulling one of those coins out while drinking, slapping it on the bar, and asking:

"Whose name you see on that coin, huh?"

"Naw, not that Pedro Nunez guy with the globe. Who else's name you see on there, hmmm?"

(Swig of beer - chest puffed out)
